The ProVap EZ 110 oxalic acid vaporizer is designed for fast, accurate, and repeatable Varroa mite control, making oxalic acid sublimation simple and consistent for both sideliner and commercial beekeepers. This unit delivers reliable performance with minimal hive disturbance while eliminating the need for weighing or measuring oxalic acid during treatments.
Using the ProVap EZ is straightforward. Insert the vaporizer stem into the hive entrance, dip the open end of the delivery capsule into oxalic acid, and slide the capsule down the tube. The capsule releases the oxalic acid directly into the heating chamber where sublimation begins immediately. Each capsule is engineered to collect exactly 2 grams of oxalic acid, the correct dose for a double brood box hive. This precision is achieved by utilizing the natural, slightly damp consistency of oxalic acid, allowing the capsule to capture the proper amount every time.
The ProVap EZ is constructed from durable 304 stainless steel and features a two-piece design that connects securely for use and separates easily for transport. It combines all the proven performance of the original ProVap 110 with an even simpler workflow, making it one of the easiest oxalic acid vaporizers on the market in its class.
This sublimator, commonly referred to as a vaporizer, is intended for use with a grounded 110-volt (three-prong) power source and is applied through the front hive entrance. To operate, connect and tighten the two sections, then plug the unit into a 110V power supply. Many beekeepers prefer using a 12V battery with a power inverter for dependable field use. The unit reaches operating temperature in approximately two minutes, and the digital display will indicate 250°C when ready.
Once at temperature, place the stem into the hive entrance, dip the included capsule into oxalic acid, and slide it into the stem. Cover the stem hole with your thumb to prevent vapor from escaping. When the capsule reaches the heating chamber, sublimation begins and the temperature will briefly drop. When the display returns to 250°C, usually within 20 to 30 seconds, the treatment is complete. Turn the vaporizer upside down to release the capsule and proceed to the next hive. Temporary temperature increases above 250°C during treatment are normal and within operating tolerances. The temperature is factory preset and should not be adjusted.
Proper safety equipment is mandatory when performing oxalic acid treatments. Use a full-face respirator rated for organic or acid gas with replaceable filters and wear heavy, heat-resistant gauntlet gloves. Oxalic acid vapor creates a concentrated environment, and appropriate personal protective equipment is essential.
The ProVap EZ 110 is a 110-volt electrical appliance rated at 500 watts and 4.5 amps, engineered for consistent heat delivery and long-term reliability.
After completing treatments, clean the heating bowl with water to prevent oxalic acid buildup that could restrict the stem. Ensure the unit is unplugged, then flush approximately one cup of water through the bowl so it exits through the stem. Turn the vaporizer upside down to drain any remaining water. Cleaning can be done while the unit is still warm, as long as it is disconnected from the power source.
