Varroa mites, Nosema, Chalkbrood, and honey bee diseases such as AFB and EFB are matters of serious concern in pursuing the best beekeeping practices. Therefore, Bee & Comb bee disease diagnostics are here to help and save your deteriorating beehives as part of our commitment to promoting healthy beekeeping all around the country.
There are many honey bee diseases beekeepers have to deal with, some of which are more severe than others. If you observe anything unusual during your routine hive inspection, it may indicate something is wrong. It is important to remember that not all honey bee diseases have the same severity; some are more severe, requiring immediate treatment, whereas others may only take a little cleaning and diagnostics to restore completely. A honey bee colony’s health depends on recognizing and recognizing the differences between these diseases and treating them appropriately as soon as they occur. As passionate beekeepers, we must ensure that our colonies are healthy to survive and thrive. That is why Bee & Comb’s bee disease diagnostics play a crucial role in saving your bee colonies and the health of honey bees.
Providing bee disease diagnostics by Bee & Comb is a way for beekeepers to get more information about their colonies and better understand how these threats impact the growth of bee population and their colonies overall. To address these larger issues facing honey bees, we provide our services as part of our contribution to the beekeeper community by bringing together all the resources and knowledge required to save a dying colony.

It is the moral duty of beekeepers to take this job very seriously. To be able to control the honey bees disease’s spread, one of the most important things you can do is learn what the symptoms and concerning situation is so you to take the necessary actions as soon as possible. Make yourself and others aware of the importance of beekeeping education and bee disease diagnostics.
The number of American Foulbrood (AFB) cases and European Foulbrood (EFB) is no longer as high as 100 years ago but still prevalent with many other viruses and bacteria. The bacteria that cause AFB and EFB can infect any place where bees are kept, so bee disease diagnostics measures are imperative. In other words, we still see cases of such diseases every year, which is still a problem. You will likely come across a colony with AFB if you keep enough hives or keep hives long enough. Detecting disease in time will allow you to deal with it immediately and prevent it from spreading further to other bee colonies. Before it spreads to other colonies, allow you to stop it in its tracks and prevent any further damage.
So as not to spread disease, it is important to promptly identify and treat diseased colonies and hive materials. Additionally, there should be a thorough explanation of the signs of bee diseases to beekeepers. We encourage each beekeeper to use our bee disease diagnostics services to save honey bees and participate in their preservation.
The best way to keep beehive disease under control is for beekeepers to keep their eyes open, inspect the hive more often if needed, act quickly and appropriately in case of hive contamination, and rely on the services of a trustworthy beekeeping expert such as Dr. Karén Avetisyant at Bee and Comb LLC to take preventative measures when necessary.
It is very important to protect healthy colonies when inspecting hives to prevent the spread of bacteria or parasites from the colony to the colony during an inspection. Beekeeping equipment, such as tools for hives, smokers, honey extractors and gloves, can spread bacteria. If you work in hives with foulbrood, wear disposable synthetic gloves. Don’t wear leather beekeeping gloves when you work with sick hives or inspect someone else’s colonies because you can’t clean them. Make sure you wash your beekeeping jackets and equipment frequently and don’t borrow any equipment from other beekeepers.
It is crucial to control the spread of bee diseases by following strict preventive measures and diagnosing on time since delaying could bring to death of the colony.
